Master Lorenzo's "Sharp Dressed Man" Prize

At this year's Kingdom Arts & Sciences Faire (June 3-5, 2011) Master Lorenzo will be sponsoring a prize for the best example of late period European men's clothing.

What Counts As "Late Period"?

Pretty much anything from the 15th or 16th century.

Does It Have To Be A Complete Outfit?

No, though of course that would be ideal.

How About Accessories?

Acessories are a nice addition to any entry, but the focus here is on the clothes themselves. If you're not sure if the thing you want to make counts as "clothes" or "accessories", send me an email.

Is This Only For Tournament Entries?

Both Faire and Tournament entries will be considered. Documentation is always appreciated, however, especially for non-Italian styles.

Does It Have To Be Displayed On The Body?

Not necessarily, but that is the easiest way to judge the fit of a garment.

Does It Have To Be Worn By A Man?

I'm not picky. Cross-dressing is fine with me.

How Do I Join The Competition?

I will try to have some sort of marker available at KA&S registration so you can flag your entry for consideration. You can also send me an email and let me know what you're entering so I can be on the lookout for it.

Okay, So What's The Prize?

I will be awarding two prizes. For the best 16th century entry I will give a set of thirty thread wrapped buttons worked in black silk. For the best 15th century entry I will give a set of thirty cast pewter buttons.

What If I have Other Questions?

I'm sure there's something that has failed to occur to me. If you have any other questions, send me an email.
